The dissolvable tea pods and kombucha textures are part of a larger concept for Delusion, a sustainable lifestyle brand that reimagines everyday rituals through eco-conscious design. The tea pods are crafted using a gelatin-based bioplastic, mixed with glycerin for strength and flexibility. These pods dissolve completely in hot water, leaving no waste behind, while food-safe coloring categorizes different teas seamlessly.
In addition, kombucha textures were explored to represent the visual identity of the Delusion brand. By growing kombucha in black chai tea with sugar, thin layers were formed on textured surfaces like foil and plastic wrap, and mold infiltration created unique dotted patterns. These organic materials showcase natural variations, both in wet and dry states, offering aesthetic depth and visual storytelling that can be applied to branding.
The Delusion brand addresses sustainability through functionality and material innovation. The tea pods provide a zero-waste solution to traditional packaging, while the kombucha textures elevate design elements with their organic, naturally generated visuals. Together, they form a cohesive narrative that aligns with Nature-Centered Design and Design to Disappear, creating products that are both sustainable and meaningful for a more environmentally aware audience.
