My original interest in bioplastics stemmed from their unique ability to disappear and degrade over time, an eco-friendly replacement to synthetic plastics, which last over 400 years, not easily broken down in nature. The original intention was to create bioplastic swaps for everyday items such as straws, tableware, and toys. Moving beyond commercial items, I was interested in the ways in which we can engage plastic as a feeling and all-knowing material itself and imagine its future.
