Reclaimed umbrella
2024

This work recycles old and broken umbrellas, turning their durable and weatherproof fabric into practical and stylish bags. This allows discarded umbrellas to be recycled, reducing waste and making them useful again. This project explores the raw materials of umbrellas and reusing them to maximize their use. According to surveys, each person uses an average of 4 to 5 umbrellas in their lifetime. However, umbrellas are often forgotten or discarded due to damage for various reasons. Due to the complex structure of umbrellas, which are usually composed of multiple materials such as metal frames, plastic parts and cloth, they are expensive to repair and difficult to repair. Broken umbrellas are therefore rarely recycled or reused, and most are directly treated as garbage.
